(Short story in Hindi)बहुत समय पहले अमरशक्ति नमक एक राजा थे उनके तीन बेटे थे। जो एकदम आलसी थे, अमर शक्ति अपने बेटों की वजह से बहुत उदास रहते थे क्योंकि वह पढ़ने लिखने में बिल्कुल रुचि नहीं दिखते थे।

एक दिन राजा ने अपने मंत्रियों को बुलाकर उनसे कहा, मैं अपने राज्य के भविष्य के बारे में आप सबसे कुछ बात करना चाहता हूं। मेरे तीनों बेटेविद्या अध्य्यन में बिल्कुल रूचि नहीं लेते ,व भविष्य की होने वाले राजा है। इस तरह से वे भविष्य में राजकाज कैसे संभालेंगे, मुझे कोई सुझाव दीजिए मैं अपने बेटों को कैसे शिक्षित करूं ताकि आगे जाकर वह मुझे शर्मिंदा न करें।

मंत्रियों ने आपस में विचार विमर्श किया एक सलाहकार आगे आकर बोला, ” महाराज मैं एक ब्राह्मण को जानता हूं उनका नाम पंडित विष्णु शर्मा के उन्हें जिद्दी बच्चों को शिक्षा देने में महारत हासिल है ,अगर आपकी आज्ञा हो तो मैं कल उन्हें दरबार में पेश करूं।

राजा ने सलाहकार से विष्णु शर्मा को दरबार में बुलाने को कहा। अगले दिन अमर शक्ति ने विष्णु शर्मा का दरबार में स्वागत किया बोले मैंने आपकी बहुत प्रशंसा सुनी है। आप राज्य के सबसे बुद्धिमान और सक्षम शिक्षक हैं मैं चाहता हूं कि आप मेरे बच्चों की शिक्षा की जिम्मेदारी लें और उन जिद्दी लड़कों का जीवन अपने ज्ञान से प्रकाशित करें, आप जितनी धनराशि मांगोगे मैं आपको दे दूंगा।

पंडित विष्णु शर्मा ने कहा क्षमा करें महाराज परंतु शिक्षा खरीदी नहीं जा सकती, मैं राजकुमारों को जरूर पढ़ाऊंगा पर उसके लिए मुझे धन नहीं चाहिए आप राजकुमारों को 6 महीने के लिए मेरे पास भेज दीजिए, वह शिक्षित और बौद्धिक बनाकर लौटेंगे। अमर शक्ति ने राजकुमारों को विष्णु शर्मा के पास भेज दिया और पंडित विष्णु शर्मा ने उन्हें कहानियों के माध्यम से शिक्षित किया, और भविष्य में उन्हें कहानियों को पंचतंत्र नामक किताब में लिपिबद्ध किया गया है। इसलिए यह पंचतंत्र की कहानियों के नाम से जानी जाती है।

Amar Shakti sent the princes to Vishnu Sharma and Pandit Vishnu Sharma educated them through stories, and in future the stories were transcribed in a book called Panchatantra.
